What PayBru Does
PayBru is a South African creator platform that brings together memberships, community content, events, a digital store, crowdfunding, tips, and streaming integrations - all with local billing in ZAR.
Membership Communities
Creators set up communities with one or more membership tiers. Each tier can have its own price, perks, and access level. Members subscribe to the tier that suits them and get immediate access.
Community Posts
Creators publish content directly on their PayBru page - blog posts, images, videos, audio, and polls. Each post can be set to Public, Members-Only, or restricted to a Specific Tier, giving creators full control over who sees what. Posts can be organised into playlists for easy browsing.
Events
Creators can host virtual events (via Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Discord) and physical events with location details. Events include RSVP tracking, capacity management, and automatic reminders for attendees.
Digital Store
Sell digital products (files, downloads) and physical products directly from your PayBru page. Orders are managed through the creator dashboard with full order tracking.
Crowdfunding Campaigns
Launch goal-based campaigns with two funding models:
- Flexible funding: keep whatever you raise, regardless of whether you hit the goal.
- All-or-Nothing: funds are only collected if the campaign reaches its goal by the deadline.
Each campaign has a funding goal, timeline, and progress tracker visible to supporters.
Tips and Donations (Brus)
Supporters can send tips using PayBru's Brus system, where 1 Bru = R50. Tips can be sent publicly or anonymously (as "Anonymous Bru") and can include an optional message. This gives fans a simple way to show appreciation outside of memberships.
Discord Integration
PayBru connects directly to your Discord server. When a member subscribes, they automatically receive the correct Discord role. When a membership lapses, the role is removed. Role automation keeps your server access in sync without manual management.
Streaming Integrations
Creators who stream can connect their Twitch, Kick, or YouTube accounts to display live status on their PayBru page. A browser source overlay is available for streamers to show real-time supporter activity during broadcasts.
Direct Messages
Members and creators can communicate privately through PayBru's built-in direct messaging system.
Gift Memberships
Members can gift a membership to someone else for 1–12 months. Gifts can be sent anonymously (as "Anonymous Bru") and the recipient has a 30-day window to accept.
South African Billing (ZAR)
All billing is handled in South African Rand through Paystack, a local payment provider. No currency conversion headaches.
- Platform fee: 5% per transaction (reducible to 2.5% through the referral programme).
- Gateway fee: 2.9% + R1 per transaction.
- Recurring billing: Subscriptions are billed on a recurring cycle.
- Invoices: Every payment generates a proper invoice that members can download.
- Statements: Members can view their full billing history and download statements.
Refer 10 creators who sign up and your platform fee drops from 5% to 2.5% for 6 months.
Creator Payouts
Earnings from memberships, store sales, tips, and crowdfunding are paid out to creators on a regular schedule. You can track your balance, view payout history, and manage your payout details from your dashboard.
