How PayBru Works

PayBru follows a straightforward flow from community setup to content creation, member engagement, and creator payouts.

The Flow

1. Creator Sets Up a Community

A creator signs up on PayBru and creates a community. This is the public-facing page where potential members can learn about the community, browse content, and see available membership tiers.

2. Creator Configures Membership Tiers

The creator defines one or more tiers - each with a name, price (in ZAR), and a description of what members get. For example:

  • Basic: R49/month - Access to members-only posts and the community Discord.
  • Premium: R149/month - Everything in Basic, plus exclusive content, event access, and priority support.

3. Creator Publishes Content and Sets Up Features

With the community live, the creator can:

  • Post content: blog posts, images, videos, audio, and polls, each with its own access level (Public, Members-Only, or Specific Tier).
  • Organise posts into playlists for easy discovery.
  • Create events: virtual events (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Discord) or physical events with RSVP and capacity management.
  • Open a store: list digital or physical products for sale.
  • Launch crowdfunding campaigns: set a goal and timeline with flexible or all-or-nothing funding.
  • Connect Discord: link a Discord server and map each membership tier to a Discord role.
  • Connect streaming accounts: link Twitch, Kick, or YouTube to show live status on the page.

4. Members Subscribe and Engage

A member visits the community page, picks a tier, and completes payment in ZAR via Paystack. PayBru processes the payment and generates an invoice automatically.

Once subscribed, members can:

  • Access tier-restricted posts, events, and content.
  • Purchase items from the creator's store.
  • Send tips (Brus) - publicly or anonymously - with optional messages.
  • Gift memberships to others (1–12 months, with a 30-day acceptance window).
  • Send direct messages to the creator.
  • Receive their Discord role automatically if the creator has Discord integration enabled.

5. Recurring Billing

On each billing cycle, PayBru automatically charges the member through Paystack. If payment succeeds, access continues. If it fails, the member is notified and access is paused until payment is resolved.

6. Creator Gets Paid

Earnings from memberships, store sales, tips, and crowdfunding accumulate in the creator's PayBru balance. Payouts are processed on a regular schedule to the creator's configured bank account.

What happens when a member cancels?

When a membership is cancelled or a payment fails, PayBru automatically removes access to members-only content and revokes the associated Discord role. The member loses access to gated content and channels until they resubscribe.
