Membership Tiers
Members choose one tier per creator. Creators can connect each tier to PayBru content access and, when Discord is enabled, a mapped Discord role.
Membership tiers are the paid (or free) levels members subscribe to on PayBru. Each creator can run multiple tiers, with their own pricing, perks, and access rules.
Paid tiers are shown in South African Rand and renew by the selected duration.
Each tier can unlock posts, downloads, events, store discounts, and other creator benefits.
If the creator uses Discord, a tier can map to a role in the creator's Discord server.
What's in a Tier
A tier usually includes:
- A name and short description that members see on the public community page.
- A price in ZAR per month (or a free tier).
- The content and perks included — gated posts, downloads, events, store discounts, and so on.
- An optional Discord role mapping so accepted members automatically get the right Discord role. See Role Mapping Basics.
- Optional duration choices (monthly or longer prepaid options).
- Optional promotions the creator may run, like a launch discount.
Members can hold one tier per creator at a time. To move up or down, they upgrade or downgrade rather than buying two tiers in parallel.
Paid and Free Tiers
PayBru supports both:
- Paid tiers — billed in ZAR through Paystack. Recurring charges use the saved card.
- Free tiers — no payment required. Great as a "lobby" or as a way to give members a taste before they pay.
Free tiers still appear on the community page and members can join with one tap.
Subscription Durations
Where the creator has enabled duration choices, members can pick the length of their prepaid block at checkout:
| Duration | Description |
|---|---|
| 1 month | Standard monthly subscription, billed monthly |
| 3 months | Prepaid quarterly — one upfront charge, renews every 3 months |
| 6 months | Prepaid half-year — one upfront charge, renews every 6 months |
| 12 months | Prepaid annual — one upfront charge, renews yearly |
If the creator sets a duration discount on 3-, 6-, or 12-month options, the discount is shown on the tier card and applied at checkout. For example, a tier might offer "Save 15% with the 12-month plan."
Renewals for longer durations behave the same way as monthly renewals — the saved card is charged at the end of the block. See Recurring Billing.
How Members Join
- Open the creator's public community page.
- Pick a tier.
- If duration options are offered, choose 1, 3, 6, or 12 months.
- Complete checkout via Paystack — card recommended so renewals are automatic.
- Your access activates immediately and any linked Discord role is granted.
Changing Tiers
- Upgrade to a higher tier — your access changes right away. The new price applies at the next billing cycle.
- Downgrade to a lower tier — you keep your current access until the end of the cycle. The lower price applies on the next cycle.
If a tier has changed price since you subscribed, your existing subscription stays on the price you signed up at until you upgrade, downgrade, or your subscription ends.
Cancelling
You can cancel any time from My Activity > My Memberships. Your access continues until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your status changes to Ended.
For Creators
Creators design tiers from the Manage Portal. See:
- Setting Up Memberships — building tiers, perks, and Discord mappings.
- Managing Members — tracking and supporting active members.
- Managing Member Access — adjusting or revoking access manually.
