Creator FAQ
For step-by-step setup, start with the Creator Overview.
How do I become a creator?
Create an account, build your community, add at least one tier, complete KYC, save a South African bank account, then publish your community page.
What does PayBru charge?
- PayBru platform fee: 5% on subscriptions, tips, store purchases, gifts, and crowdfunding/support flows.
- Paystack gateway fee: currently 2.9% + R1.00 per South African local card transaction, excluding VAT. Pay-by-Bank methods such as Ozow EFT and Capitec Pay can use different Paystack pricing. Paystack also charges VAT on its processing fee.
Refer 10 paid signups through your referral link and your platform fee drops to 2.5% for 6 months on subscriptions.
How can I earn?
- Membership subscriptions (monthly, 3-month, 6-month, 12-month, or custom durations).
- Tips through Pay-a-Bru.
- Store sales — digital products (PDFs, ebooks, courses) and physical merch.
- Gift memberships.
- Paid events.
- Crowdfunding / support flows where enabled.
When do I get my first payout?
Once KYC is approved, a South African bank account is saved on your profile, and earnings have cleared the standard hold period. See Payout Overview.
Can I offer free tiers?
Yes. Free tiers are great as a "lobby" that lets people taste your community before they pay.
How many tiers can I create?
You can create multiple tiers. Most creators keep the structure simple — three to five tiers is a good starting point.
Can I change tier prices?
Yes. Existing members keep the price they signed up at until they change tier or resubscribe. New members pay the updated price.
What can I post?
Text, images, videos (including native video hosting), audio, and polls. Posts can be public, members-only, or locked to a specific tier.
Can I run events?
Yes. Virtual (Zoom, Google Meet, Teams, Discord), in-person (with venue and location), or hybrid. Events support RSVP tracking, capacity limits, ticket pricing, ICS calendar invites, and automated reminders 24 hours and 1 hour before they start.
Can I sell products?
Yes. The Merch Store supports both digital products (PDFs, courses, ebooks) and physical products with shipping fields. Use the POS / Counter module for in-person sales at stalls, pop-ups, and events — see Using POS / Counter.
Does PayBru support Discord and streaming tools?
Yes:
- Discord — role sync per tier, ban sync, permission health checks.
- Twitch, Kick, YouTube — live stream embeds, Live Now on the home page, viewer counts.
- Browser source alerts for OBS, Streamlabs, vMix, XSplit, and any other browser-source-capable streaming software, covering tip, membership, and gift events.
Can I add moderators?
Yes. Assign moderators with limited permissions through Moderators in the Manage Portal. Keep moderator access to the minimum each person needs.
