Creator FAQ
Questions that creators commonly ask about using PayBru.
How do I become a creator on PayBru?
Sign up for a PayBru account and set up your creator profile. Add your page details, create at least one membership tier, and connect your bank account for payouts. Once your page is live, you can start sharing it with your audience.
How much does PayBru take from my earnings?
PayBru charges a 5% platform fee on each transaction. On top of that, Paystack (the payment gateway) charges 2.9% + R1 per transaction. There are no hidden charges - what you see is what you pay.
Refer 10 creators who sign up for PayBru and your platform fee drops from 5% to 2.5% for 6 months.
What are the different ways I can earn on PayBru?
PayBru offers multiple revenue streams:
- Memberships: recurring monthly subscriptions from your tier members.
- Store sales: one-time purchases of digital or physical products from your store.
- Tips (Brus): supporters send tips at R50 per Bru, publicly or anonymously.
- Crowdfunding campaigns: goal-based funding with flexible or all-or-nothing models.
All earnings are consolidated in your PayBru balance and paid out together.
When will I receive my first payout?
Payouts are processed monthly. Your first payout will be initiated once your available balance meets the minimum payout threshold and your bank details and profile are fully verified. See Payout Timing for details.
Can I offer free memberships?
Yes. You can create a free tier that gives members access to basic content or community features. Free tiers are a good way to grow your audience before converting them to paid memberships.
How many membership tiers can I create?
PayBru allows multiple tiers per creator page. There is no strict limit, but we recommend keeping your tier structure simple and clear - most successful creators use 2–4 tiers.
Can I change my tier prices after launching?
Yes. You can adjust tier prices at any time. Existing members on that tier will be notified of the change. Price increases do not apply retroactively to existing subscribers until their next renewal.
What content can I post on PayBru?
You can publish community posts including text, images, videos, audio, and polls. Each post can be set to Public, Members-Only, or restricted to a Specific Tier. Posts can be organised into playlists. All content must comply with PayBru's Community Standards. Content that is illegal, harmful, or violates intellectual property rights is not permitted.
Can I host events on PayBru?
Yes. You can create virtual events using Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Discord, as well as physical events with location details. Events include RSVP tracking, capacity management, and automatic reminders for attendees.
Can I sell products on PayBru?
Yes. PayBru includes a digital store where you can sell both digital products (downloads, files) and physical products. Orders are managed through your creator dashboard.
Can I run crowdfunding campaigns?
Yes. You can launch campaigns with a funding goal and timeline. Choose between flexible funding (keep what you raise) or all-or-nothing (funds collected only if the goal is met).
What streaming integrations are available?
You can connect your Twitch, Kick, or YouTube accounts to display your live status on your PayBru page. A browser source overlay is also available to show real-time supporter activity (tips, new subscribers) during your broadcasts.
How do I grow my membership base?
Share your PayBru page on your social media channels, Discord server, and other platforms where your audience is active. Use public posts to showcase your content, host open events, offer a compelling free tier, post consistently, and engage with your members. Diversifying your offerings across memberships, store, events, and tips gives members more ways to support you.
