Gifting Memberships

GiftingSend a 1–12 month membership to anyone — they have 30 days to accept, or PayBru auto-refunds the gift.

Gifts can be sent anonymously (the recipient sees Anonymous Bru) and don't auto-renew when the gifted period ends.

Use a gift membership when you want to pay for someone else's access to a creator's community — perfect for a birthday, a thank-you, or a way to share a creator you love.

Start a Gift​

  1. Open the creator's community page or your My Memberships screen.
  2. Select Gift Membership (or Gift on the tier card).
  3. Pick the tier you want to give.

Choose the Duration​

  • Pick a duration of 1 to 12 months (any month value the creator allows).
  • Longer durations may carry a duration discount if the creator has enabled one.

Add the Recipient​

  • Enter the recipient's PayBru email or username carefully.
  • Make sure the email is one they actually check — that's where the gift notification goes.

Add a Message​

Write a short, friendly note. The recipient sees it when they accept the gift. Keep it polite and clear — your message is visible only to the recipient (and to PayBru support if there's ever a dispute).

Send Anonymously​

  • Tick Send anonymously if you'd rather not show your name.
  • Anonymous gifts appear to the recipient as Anonymous Bru.

Complete Payment​

  • Finish checkout in ZAR through Paystack to send the gift.
  • A receipt is issued to you, the giver — not the recipient.
  • The recipient receives a notification and link to claim the gift.

How Long a Gift Stays Valid​

  • Gifts stay claimable for 30 days after they're sent.
  • After 30 days an unclaimed gift expires.
  • Expired gifts are automatically refunded to your original payment method through the normal refund flow — you don't need to chase it.

Track Sent Gifts​

  • Open My Activity > My Memberships to see pending gifts you've sent.
  • A pending gift shows the recipient, the tier, the duration, and the days left to claim it.
  • Once accepted, the gifted membership shows up on the recipient's account as a Gifted membership.

Accept a Gift Sent to You​

  1. Open the email or in-app notification, or look under My Memberships for any Gifted (Pending) entry.
  2. Open the gift and accept it within 30 days.
  3. Your access activates immediately and any linked Discord role applies straight away.

What Happens When the Gifted Period Ends​

  • Gifts do not auto-renew.
  • When the gifted period ends, your access ends unless you subscribe yourself.
  • Your linked Discord roles are removed when the membership ends, the same as any other ended membership.

Refunds and Cancellations​

  • An unclaimed gift that expires after 30 days is refunded automatically.
  • If you sent a gift in error and the recipient hasn't claimed it yet, contact PayBru support through Support > Get Help with the gift reference and ask them to cancel and refund it.
  • Once the gift has been accepted, refunds follow the normal refund policy — see Getting Support and Refunds.
