Understanding Billing
All PayBru memberships are billed monthly in South African Rand (ZAR) via Paystack. This guide explains how billing works and what to do if something goes wrong.
Billing Cycle
- Your billing cycle starts on the day you subscribe.
- You're charged on the same date each month (e.g. if you join on the 15th, you're billed on the 15th every month).
- If the date doesn't exist in a shorter month (e.g. the 31st), you're billed on the last day of that month.
- You can subscribe for 1, 3, 6, or 12 months depending on what the creator offers, with potential discounts for longer commitments.
Supported Payment Methods
All payments are processed through Paystack, a trusted South African payment gateway:

PayBru does not store your full card details. Payment processing is handled securely by Paystack, which is PCI-compliant.
Failed Payments
If a payment fails (insufficient funds, expired card, bank decline), here's what happens:
- You're notified - PayBru sends an email letting you know the payment didn't go through.
- Grace period - Your membership status changes to PastDue and you retain full access for 3 days.
- No automatic retries - You must update your payment method and retry the payment manually.
- Access revocation - If payment is not resolved within 3 days, your membership status changes to Ended. Discord roles are removed and member-only content becomes inaccessible.
PayBru does not automatically retry failed payments. Update your payment method and retry as soon as possible to avoid losing access after the 3-day grace period.
Updating Payment Details
To change your card or payment method:
- Go to Dashboard > Billing.
- Click Update Payment Method.
- Enter your new card details, or select bank transfer/EFT or mobile money.
- Save changes.
Your new payment method will be used for all future renewals across every active membership.
Pricing and Currency
- All prices on PayBru are in ZAR.
- The amount you see on a tier is the amount you'll be charged - no hidden fees or currency conversions.
- Creators set their own tier prices. Price changes to an existing tier only apply to new subscribers unless the creator explicitly migrates existing members.
- VAT is currently 0% on PayBru transactions.
Pending Transactions
If a payment is started but not completed, the transaction expires after 30 minutes. Simply start a new checkout if your session times out.
