Managing Your Membership

You have full control over your memberships from your PayBru dashboard.

Viewing Active Memberships

Go to Dashboard > Memberships to see:

  • The communities you belong to
  • Your current tier and price
  • Your subscription duration and next renewal date
  • Discord role status (if applicable)

Upgrading or Downgrading

To change your tier within a community:

  1. Open the membership from your dashboard.
  2. Click Change Tier.
  3. Select the new tier.
  4. Confirm the change.

How tier changes are handled:

  • Upgrades: The price difference is charged immediately (pro-rated for the remainder of your current billing cycle). Your new perks and Discord role take effect straight away.
  • Downgrades: Your current tier stays active until the end of the billing cycle. The lower tier and its pricing apply from the next renewal date.

Cancelling a Membership

  1. Open the membership from your dashboard.
  2. Click Cancel Membership.
  3. Confirm the cancellation.

When you cancel, your membership status changes to Canceled. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period you've already paid for. You won't be charged again. Once the paid period ends, your status changes to Ended and access is revoked.

After cancellation:

  • Member-only content becomes inaccessible once the paid period ends.
  • Your Discord role is removed automatically at that point.
  • Your payment history and invoices remain available in your dashboard.

Membership Statuses

Gift Memberships

If someone gifts you a membership:

  • You will receive a notification about the gift.
  • You have 30 days to accept the gift membership.
  • Once accepted, your membership activates immediately with full access.
  • The gifter may choose to be anonymous (shown as "Anonymous Bru") or identified.
  • If you decline the gift or don't accept within 30 days, the purchase is automatically refunded to the gifter.

To accept a gift membership, follow the link in your notification or go to Dashboard > Memberships where pending gifts will be displayed.

Failed Payments

If your recurring payment fails:

  1. Your membership status changes to PastDue.
  2. You retain access for a 3-day grace period.
  3. PayBru does not automatically retry the payment - you must update your payment method and retry manually.
  4. If not resolved within 3 days, your status changes to Ended and access is revoked.

Go to Dashboard > Billing to update your payment method and retry.

Resubscribing

Changed your mind? You can rejoin a community at any time:

  1. Visit the creator's PayBru page or go to Dashboard > Past Memberships.
  2. Select a tier and subscription duration.
  3. Complete payment via Paystack.
  4. Access and Discord roles are restored immediately.
tip

If you resubscribe before your cancelled membership expires, you'll continue seamlessly without any gap in access.
