Failed Payments and Access Changes

Sometimes a recurring payment does not go through. This page explains what happens next and how to recover.

Why Payments Fail

Common reasons for a failed payment include:

  • Insufficient funds in your account.
  • Expired card or outdated payment details.
  • Bank declines due to security rules or spending limits.
  • Technical issues with your bank or Paystack.

What Happens When a Payment Fails

When PayBru cannot process your recurring payment, this happens:

  1. You get a payment failure notice.
  2. Your membership changes to PastDue.
  3. You keep access for 3 days.
  4. If the payment is not fixed, your membership changes to Ended and access is removed.
warning

PayBru does not automatically retry failed payments.

Grace Period

The 3-day grace period gives you time to:

  • Check why the payment failed (insufficient funds, expired card, etc.)
  • Update your payment method from Resources > My Profile > Payments
  • Manually retry the payment

After 3 days, access ends and Discord roles are removed.

How to Recover a Failed Payment

  1. Go to Resources > My Profile > Payments.
  2. Update your payment details if needed.
  3. Retry the payment.

If the retry succeeds, your membership returns to Active status.

Access Revocation

If payment is not resolved after the 3-day grace period:

  • Your membership status changes to Ended.
  • You lose access to all gated content for that creator.
  • Your Discord roles for that membership are removed automatically.
  • You are not charged further.

Membership Status Flow
