Quick answers to common billing questions.
General
When will I be charged?
You are charged when you first subscribe. After that, payment recurs monthly on the same day each month.
Can I subscribe for longer than one month?
Yes. Creators can offer 1, 3, 6, or 12 month durations.
What currency will I be charged in?
All charges are in South African Rand (ZAR).
What payment methods are accepted?
PayBru accepts:
- Card payments: Visa or Mastercard (debit or credit)
- Bank transfer / EFT: direct bank payment
- Mobile money: supported mobile money options
What fees are charged?
PayBru charges a 5% platform fee. Paystack charges 2.9% + R1.00 per transaction. VAT is currently 0%.
Subscriptions
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to My Activity > My Memberships, find the subscription you want to cancel, and select Cancel. Your membership stays active until the end of the current billing period.
Can I pause my subscription instead of cancelling?
No. You can cancel and resubscribe later.
What happens if I upgrade my tier mid-cycle?
You get the higher tier right away. The new price applies on the next billing date.
What happens if I downgrade?
You keep your current access until the end of the cycle. The lower price applies next cycle.
Are there free tiers?
Yes. Some creators offer free tiers.
Payments
My payment failed. What do I do?
Update your payment method in Resources > My Profile > Payments and retry the payment manually within the 3-day grace period. See Failed Payments and Access Changes.
Will I lose access immediately if a payment fails?
No. You stay in PastDue for 3 days.
What happens after the grace period?
If payment is not resolved within 3 days, your membership changes to Ended and access is removed.
My payment is stuck as pending. What should I do?
Pending transactions expire after 30 minutes. Start a new checkout if needed.
Can I gift a membership to someone?
Yes. You can buy a gift membership for someone else, including anonymously. The recipient has 30 days to accept it.
Invoices
Where can I find my invoices?
Invoices are available in My Activity > My Payments. See Downloading Billing Documents.
Do invoices include VAT?
VAT is currently 0%. See Understanding Charges.
Refunds
Can I get a refund?
Yes. PayBru supports full and partial refunds.
How does the refund process work?
Refunds move through review, approval, processing, and completion.
